| When
flying into Northeastern Pennsylvania, allow yourself plenty of time to
reach your destination. Although rush hour traffic is slight, accidents
on interstate highways can close roads for hours. Also, the distance you
must travel between hotels, courthouses and offices is much greater than
in the city.
Consider
renting a car upon your arrival at the airport, as public transportation
is limited. Even if your hotel offers a shuttle to and from the
airport, make sure to inquire as to whether they also offer one to and
from downtown areas. County courthouses are not always located in city
centers, however, so check out our Maps and Directions
Guide or MapQuest for more
information.
Please
note that regional airports like Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Harrisburg and
Lehigh Valley do not offer many direct flights, but provide connecting
flights to larger cities like Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Boston.
If you require a connecting flight, it is recommended that you allow
yourself additional time to reach your destination. If you plan on driving
to Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre or Scranton from New York or Philadelphia,
consider staying overnight unless you plan on taking very, very short
depositions. See our Maps & Directions Guide
for driving directions, distances and travel times.

LEHIGH
VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(ALLENTOWN - BETHLEHEM - EASTON)
The
Lehigh Valley is primarily comprised of the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem
and Easton, hence the nickname "ABE Area." It is also home
to the Lehigh Valley International Airport. It
offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati,
Cleveland, Detroit, Harrisburg, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto
and Washington (National and Dulles).
Rush
hour traffic on Route 22 can slow a business traveler down considerably,
so if you are flying in to the Lehigh Valley, be sure to allow some
extra time to reach your destination. The airport is approximately one
hour from Hazleton, one and a half hours from Wilkes-Barre, and two
hours from Scranton. For
driving directions from Allentown, see our directions
page.

HARRISBURG
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The
Harrisburg Airport is conveniently located in Central Pennsylvania near
the state capitol. It offers non-stop flights to Allentown, Atlanta,
Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, New York,
Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Washington.
When
traveling to Northeastern Pennsylvania from Harrisburg, follow Interstate
81 North. Allow a minimum of one hour if you're driving to Hazleton,
one and a half hours to Wilkes-Barre and two hours to Scranton. Better
yet, try flying directly in to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International
Airport instead. For driving directions from Harrisburg, see our directions
page.

PHILADELPHIA
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Unless
you plan to do some sightseeing, if you are traveling to Northeastern
Pennsylvania from the Philadelphia International Airport it is strongly
advised that you avoid traveling through the City of Philadelphia.
To save time, head south on I-95 toward Wilmington, DE about five
miles, then head north on the Blue Route toward I-476 / Northeast
Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. See our directions
page for further instructions. Without any traffic, it will take
you about two and a half hours if you're driving to Hazleton, three
hours to Wilkes-Barre and three and a half hours to Scranton. Try
catching a connecting flight to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International
Airport or fly directly into the Lehigh Valley International Airport
instead. For more information about Philadelphia International, click

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(AVOCA)
The
Wyoming Valley is home to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.
The airport itself, however, is neither in Wilkes-Barre nor Scranton.
It is actually located midway between the two near Avoca, PA. That is
why it is often referred to locally as the Avoca Airport.
If you are flying in to Avoca, and if
you are staying for a few days, it is recommended that you rent a car
at the airport, since taxis and public transportation are not readily
available in Northeastern Pennsylvania. If you are flying in for just
a day or two, call us at (800) 596-0001 and we will arrange for your
transportation to and from the airport.
Although traffic jams are uncommon in
Northeastern Pennsylvania, the airport is approximately one hour from
Hazleton, one-half hour from Wilkes-Barre and one-half hour from Scranton,
so allow some extra time to reach your destination. For more information
about the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, click
here or call toll-free 1-877-2-FLYAVP.
